Restaurants and hospitality

A status page for restaurants and hospitality

Guests book and order online more than ever. When those systems fail, a clear public note saves staff from answering the same question all night.

The problem

Where hospitality feels the strain

Service is busy enough without staff dealing with confusion about whether the systems are working.

  • The table booking page stops working, and guests think you are fully booked.
  • Online ordering for collection or delivery drops out at the busiest time.
  • A hotel booking engine or key system has a fault at check-in time.
  • Staff have to explain the same issue to every caller during service.

How Orbis Status helps

How a status page helps a restaurant or hotel

It gives the front of house a simple answer, and guests a place to look first.

Components for guest-facing systems

List Table booking, Online ordering, Phone line and Wi-Fi, each with its own status. See how components work.

Quick updates

Post a note in a minute during service, then edit the status as things change. See how incidents work.

Scheduled maintenance

Announce planned system changes for quiet days, so regulars are not caught out. See how maintenance works.

Shared access

Give the manager and duty managers access, so whoever is in charge can update it. See the team features.

A link on your website

Put a status link beside your booking button, so guests can see a problem is known.

The incidents screen, with a form for reporting an incident and the timeline of an open one.
Sample data
Step by step

Worked example: online ordering stops on a Friday

A fictional pub kitchen, The Copper Kettle, finds its takeaway ordering page is not loading.

  1. The duty manager logs it

Online ordering is set to Major outage, with a note that people can still ring to order.

  2. The page is shared

The link goes on the pub social page and is read out on the phone message.

  3. The provider sorts it

The manager posts Monitoring after placing a test order.

  4. It is resolved

The status goes back to Operational and the incident remains in the history.

This is an illustration of how the features fit together, not a real customer story.

Frequently asked questions

Can guests get a text when it is fixed?

Yes, on Startup and above, if the guest is on a UK mobile number and has subscribed by SMS. Email is on every plan, and Slack and Teams channels are covered too.

Is this a replacement for our booking system?

No. It does not take bookings. It only tells people the state of your systems.

Can I show opening hours?

No. It is a status page, not a website. Use the links on your page to point to your hours.
