Salons and beauty

A status page for salons and beauty businesses

A salon lives on bookings. If your online booking system or card reader has a problem, clients need to know before they turn up or give up.

The problem

What disrupts a salon day

The chair is empty if bookings do not arrive. The till is stuck if payments fail.

  • The online booking page stops working, and clients assume you are full.
  • The card reader or payment system fails mid-appointment.
  • The phone line drops, and nobody can ring to move an appointment.
  • Reminders do not go out, and no-shows rise without anyone knowing why.

How Orbis Status helps

How a status page suits a salon

It is a place to point people to, not a system to learn. Keep it short and friendly.

Components for how clients reach you

List Online booking, Phone line and Card payments, each with its own status. See how components work.

Plain updates

Post a short note such as "Online booking is down, please call or message us". See how incidents work.

Planned downtime

Warn regulars before a system change, such as moving to a new booking system. See how maintenance works.

Your branding

Add your logo and brand colour so the page looks like part of your salon.

Email subscribers

Clients who want to know about problems can sign up, but nobody has to.

Sample data
Step by step

Worked example: a booking system outage

A fictional salon, Willow & Wren, finds its online booking provider is down on a Saturday morning.

  1. The manager sets the status

Online booking is marked Major outage with a note to call the salon or message on social media.

  2. The link is shared

The salon posts the status page link on its social profile and in the voicemail message.

  3. The provider recovers

The manager moves the update to Monitoring and checks test bookings go through.

  4. Normal service returns

The incident is resolved, and the page shows Online booking as Operational again.

This is an illustration of how the features fit together, not a real customer story.

Frequently asked questions

Will it send clients text reminders?

Not reminders. Orbis Status is for service updates only. Email is on every plan, and SMS to UK mobile numbers is on Startup and above, for incidents and maintenance.

Does it connect to my booking system?

No. It does not connect to named booking tools or check them. You update it yourself.

Is it too much for a small salon?

It can be as simple as one page with two or three items. It is free, and you may find a social post is enough for rare problems.
