Connecting your own domain needs a paid plan, from Hobby at £11 a month. Free pages use their free your-name.orbisstatus.co.uk subdomain. Every status page has that address on every plan. If you would rather customers saw your own domain, such as status.yourcompany.com, you can add it with a single DNS record.
Choose a subdomain
Pick an address that customers will guess, such as status.yourcompany.com. Use a subdomain rather than your main website address, so that your website and status page stay separate.
Add the domain to your page
- Open the settings for your status page.
- Enter your domain, for example status.yourcompany.com.
- Save it.

Add the CNAME record
At the company that manages your DNS, add a CNAME record. Set the name to the subdomain you chose, such as status, and point it to orbisstatus.co.uk.
- Type: CNAME
- Name: status (or whichever subdomain you chose)
- Value: orbisstatus.co.uk
DNS changes can take a while to spread. Some providers take minutes, and others take longer.
HTTPS is automatic
Once the record is working, the HTTPS certificate is set up for you. There is nothing to buy or renew.
If it does not work
- Check that the name and value are exactly right, with no extra spaces.
- Check that you have not also left an older record for the same name.
- Wait a while and try again, as DNS can be slow.
- Some DNS providers add your domain automatically to the name, so you may only need to enter status.
Link to it
Add your new address to your website footer, your support page and your email signature. Customers should be able to find it quickly when something is wrong. See how to brand your page.

Frequently asked questions
Does the custom domain remove the Orbis Status link?
No. The small "Powered by Orbis Status" link is removed by moving to a paid plan, from Hobby at £11 per month per status page. Your free subdomain is on every plan, but a custom domain needs a paid plan.
Should my status page be on the same system as my website?
It helps if it is not. If your website is down, customers can still reach your status page. Using a separate subdomain pointed at Orbis Status keeps them apart.
Can I use a custom domain on the Free plan?
No. Your own domain is only on paid plans, from Hobby at £11 a month. Free pages use their free your-name.orbisstatus.co.uk address, which you can change if the name is available.
